Tsushima Jinja Shrine
It is Tsushima Jinga Shrine’s annual festival to pray for an abundant grain harvest and to ward o epidemics and is nicknamed Gion-san”. People gather together coming from neighboring areas as it is the largest summer festival in the central south of Nara prefecture.

Sacred shinto rituals are held, such as praying for an abundant grain harvest, a ritual for raising cattle, and rice planting dances are performed by the shrine maidens. It is said that the more a cattle is rampant, the more the year will be blessed with benecial rain and allowing for a rich year of harvest.

A volleyball tournament takes place in the rice eld using rural resources, and is played by children and adults while being covered in mud from head to toe. Various flea markets, food stands are also available.
